I liked the book, but it did drag a little in places and was not that exciting. I enjoy her writing most of the time. This book will not be for everyone. Damon tragically lost his twin brother, and then his parents. He meets Eleanor and in two weeks they are engaged. Then he gets her to dump him, by being seen with his mistress in public. The problem with Damon is he has vowed to never love anyone again as he can not stand to lose anyone like he did his twin brother. Which is why he made it so Eleanor would dumped him, because he had too many feeling for her. Eleanor was really hurt by Damon's betrayal two years ago. She has finally decided on someone she thinks she wants to marry, but Damon has come back and is interfering in her courtship with the prince. He doesn't want her, but he knows the prince's reputation, and doesn't want Eleanor hurt by him, so he says, and set out to break them up. There isn't much excitement going on. The only mystery is someone is trying to kill the prince and Eleanor gets endangered a couple times, but nothing to serious. Though even that is pretty easy to figure out. This is more about them coming to terms with the past, and admitting they still care about the other one, and finally getting Damon to open his heart again. It was still a good read to me, but some people will not get past the slow parts. I am not so big on Lord and Lady romance type books and prefer Highland, and Knight type stories better, for this reason. Though some can be good, I usually do not find them as exciting. As with most all her books there are some good sex scenes.

Great love stories. Entertaining and light reading. Read the whole series and then went on to the next series. Good diversion between serious reading.
It's nice to escape the stress of life, and reading this book acomplished that and much, much more. Great history in the story

Another great book loved the early 16th century stories
